Boilers that are open to the atmosphere and have a feed and expansion tank are called open vent boilers. The system provides central heating & hot water by using both a hot water storage cylinder & water tank. 

Homes which suit an open vent boiler:
  • If your home has multiple bathrooms, open vent boilers are perfect as they can provide a lot of hot water and heating at the same time. 
  • Open vent boilers work well if you are replacing an old open vent heating system, and are ideal if water pressure is low in your area as you can add a pump to your hot and cold stored water supply.
Advantages 

Open vent boilers can provide enough hot water to serve multiple bathrooms.
Ideal for large homes with high hot water demand.
As open vent boilers come with a hot water storage tank you still have back up hot water if you boiler breaks down.
